Photo Quality Guidelines for Custom Furriends ProductsUpdated 8 days ago
We want your Furriends custom products - like our printed T-shirts and face socks - to look amazing!
The quality of your finished item depends heavily on the photo you upload. Poor-quality or poorly lit photos can lead to blurry, dark, or oddly coloured prints.
📸 What You See Is What You Get
When you upload your photo, you’ll see a preview on-screen.
That preview shows how your image will appear when printed.
We don’t send additional proofs - so please check carefully before completing your order.
🖥️ Important: Screens are backlit, which makes images appear brighter and more vibrant than they’ll print.
If your photo looks dark or shadowy on your screen, it will print even darker on fabric. Always aim for a clear, bright, evenly lit image.
✅ Tips for Great Photo Results
1. Use a clear, high-quality photo.
Upload the original image straight from your device - not a screenshot or a copy saved from social media.
Photos from modern smartphones are usually fine as long as they’re sharp and not overly zoomed in.
2. Make sure your pet is sharp and in focus.
If your pet’s face or eyes are blurry, it will print that way.
Try to capture them when they’re sitting still or distracted by a toy or treat.
3. Avoid shadows and colour casts.
Shadows can create unwanted tints or blue/grey patches across your pet’s fur — especially on dark-coloured pets.
For best results, take your photo in bright, even lighting - such as outdoors in soft daylight or indoors near a window (but not in direct sun).
Avoid strong backlighting, indoor yellow lighting, or uneven light that leaves half the face in shadow.
4. Frame your pet clearly (and keep those ears in!).
Often images are cropped around your pet’s face, so make sure their entire head, ears, and any special markings are visible in the photo.
If part of an ear or face is cut off, it can’t be added back in - and the result can look a little odd once printed!
5. Skip filters and heavy edits.
Filters, stickers, or strong colour edits can distort tones or print strangely. Natural lighting and colour always look best.
Common Photo Problems to Avoid
Shadows or blue haze across part of the face (especially on dark pets)
Photos that look dark on your screen (they’ll print even darker)
Missing ears or parts of the head due to cropping
Screenshots or compressed images from social media
Motion blur or low resolution
Strong flash, glare, or harsh lighting
Pets photographed too far away
What This Means
Your photo prints exactly as supplied - we don’t make changes or send proofs.
Screens brighten images, so choose a bright, well-lit photo.
Make sure your pet’s whole face and ears are visible and in focus.
Clear, sharp, evenly lit images = clear, sharp, beautiful prints!
If your image looks fuzzy, dark, or tinted when viewed full-screen, that’s how it will print. Always choose the clearest, brightest version of your photo for the best results.
